1. First choose the right size pattern for you. Measure your hips (widest part of you bettween your waist and your knees) and then choose the right size from the sizing chart located on each pattern folder.

Picture
2. Next, lay your fabric out, making sure there are no wrinkles or extra folds. The fabric should be folded in half, and the pattern pieces in line with the grainline.
*DON'T FORGET THE POCKET PIECES IF YOU'RE DOING POCKETS!

Picture
Pin the pieces down all around the edges of the pattern.

Picture
3. Pin ALL pieces down before you cut.
Front (cut 2)
Back (cut 2)
Pockets (cut 4)

On a corner of the fabric, mark the fronts and the backs with a marker or pencil to keep track of which is which.

Picture
4. With right sides together, matching notches, lay fronts together and backs together.

Pin and sew the front and back centre seams (curved edge).

Backstitch at beg. and end of each seam (at the x's).

Picture
5. Zig Zag the raw edges of those seams you just did in step 4.

Picture
If you are not doing side pockets, skip to step #9.

6. Open fronts and backs up and lay the pockets on, right sides together, matching the notches.

Picture
8. Sew pockets on with a .25cm seam.  Then zig zag the raw edges - just the length of the pocket.

Sew all four pocket pieces to the pants, always right sides together.

Picture
9. On the front pocket pieces only, topstitch.

Picture
10. Pin side seams together including pockets.  Stitch a 1 cm side seam as shown, starting at top edge to first dot, then around the pocket, and then down the side to the bottom.

If you don't have pockets, just sew down the side from the top to the bottom.

Picture
11. Zigzag seam to finish edge, starting at the top, going around the pocket and then down to the bottom.

***If you want to include a cargo pocket on the side, or a pocket on the bum, now is the time to attach it.***
Picture
12. It is now time to sew the inner seam.  Lay your pants flat, right sides together, matching notches.  Match centre seams, laying seam allowances in opposite directions.

Pin together.

Sew from the bottom of one leg, up to the centre seam, and down the other leg to the bottom.
                                                Zigzag to finish edges.

13. Turn waistband down 0.5 cm.  Pin and press.

Turn wasteband down again 1.5 cm, forming casing.  Pin and press.  Check to ensure that your elastic fits inside the casing.

Try pants on to ensure good fit.

Stitch along lower edge edge of waistband, leaving an opening in the back to insert elastic.

Picture
14. Insert elastic through casing opening, adjusting to fit.  Add 2.5 cm, overlap ends of elastic and sew together.

Stitch opening closed.
Picture
15. To prevent elastic from rolling or stretching, stretch waistband fully, and distribute gathers evenly.

Pin elastic in place at seams.

Stitch waistband through the middle, stretching while sewing.

Picture
16. Turn hem up 1 cm.  Pin and press.

Turn up hem a second time, 1.5 cm.  Pin and press.

Stitch close to upper fold.  Press.

Your pants are now ready to wear!
