Chewy Granola Bars
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup butter or margarine OR 1/3 cup nut butter
½ cup honey
1 ¼ cups rolled oats
½ cup rice krispies
3 X 4 tbsps each of add-ins
Add Ins: (choose 4 tbsps = ¼ cup from each column)
To add fibre (choose 4 tbsps) To add protein (4 tbsps) To add flavor (choose 4 tbsps)
Raisins
-lots of fibre, natural sweetness Chopped Nuts Chocolate chips -lots of cancer-fighting anti-oxidants, but also lots of fat and sugar
Wheat germ
-lots of fibre and healthy oils Sunflower Seeds Raisins -adds fibre and natural sweetness

-lots of fibre Pumpkin Seeds Coconut

1. Preheat oven to 350F
2. In a melamine (colorful) bowl or large glass measuring cup, add 1st 3 ingredients.
3. Microwave for about 30-60 seconds and stir until well blended.
4. Meanwhile, mix all dry ingr. in a med. mixing bowl. (except chocolate chips)
5. Add liquid to dry ingr. and stir until all dry ingredients are well coated.
6. Line a 9” square pan with parchment paper.
7. If using chocolate chips, sprinkle them on the bottom of the pan and spread granola mixture on top.
8. With wet hands, press mixture into pan, pressing firmly so they will hold together later.
9. Bake 20-25 min.
10. When cool, turn upside down onto a cutting board and cut into bars.
